My book choice was “Who was Amelia Earhart”, by Kate Boehm Jerome and illustrated by David Cain.

Who was Amelia Earhart?
Amelia Earhart was a pioneer, writer, speaker and the first woman ever to be a airplane pilot.

What did Amelia Earhart attempt?
She was the first woman to attempt to fly across the world in an airplane. Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan (her navigator) went missing around the Pacific Ocean when she was forty years old.

What did Amelia Earhart accomplish? She worked hard to make sure women had more equal rights when at the time they did not have very much equality. By being the first female airplane pilot she opened many opportunities in aviation for women.

Where was Amelia Earhart born?
Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas and then moved to Los Angeles and Chicago. She also spent some time in Toronto.

When was Amelia Earhart born?
She was born July 24,1897, went missing on July 2, 1937 and she was married to George Putnam on February 7, 1931.

Why was Amelia Earhart important? Amelia Earhart was an important figure in history because she was a courageous woman who helped women’s rights at a time when women had very little equality.
